Fans were left scratching their heads yesterday when a first Wonder Woman set pic featuring Chris Pine as Steve Trevor made the rounds online.
Both Pine and his co-star Said Taghmaoui (who first released the pic) are seen dressed in what look to be clothes from the First World War in the pic below. As some of you may already know, World War I is one of the rumored time periods in which the DC superhero movie is set to take place. So what’s going on here?
According to Heroic Hollywood -- and this is a RUMOR, so remember to take it with a grain of salt -- Chris Pine is NOT playing Steve Trevor here, but his grandfather, by Hera!
Apparently, during the World War I portion of the movie, it’s actually Steve’s granddad who crashes on Paradise Island and meets Princess Diana (Gal Gadot). He is the one who shows the Amazon Princess the outside world and helps her defeat Ares (Sean Bean) before passing away. The site doesn’t make it clear whether Steve’s grandfather dies in battle with the God of War, or whether he just dies of old age or some such. Then, in modern times, Diana finally meets his descendant -- Steve Trevor -- who is the spitting image of his grandsire. Steve then helps her battle Ares again.
So Chris Pine may actually be playing double roles, then. What do you think? Do you like the idea that it may be Steve Trevor's grandfather who first meets Diana in the upcoming DC Comics movie? What about the fact that Chris Pine will be playing both Steve and a young grandpa Trevor?
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is slated to hit movie theaters on June 23, 2017.
