Just last week, Warner Bros. announced that it would develop a live-action Static Shock digital series from Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin — who’s taking on writing, producing and directing duties for the upcoming superhero series — as part of an initiative dubbed "Blue Ribbon Content."
Now look who's being eyed for the main superhero role. Flickering Myth has heard that Warner Bros. is setting its sights on Jaden Smith (aka Will Smith’s son) to play the role of young DC superhero Virgil Hawkins. Since his folks already have a developing relationship of sorts with the studio — mom Jada is on Fox's Gotham and dad Will is in negotiations for Suicide Squad — could this become a WB Smith family reunion of sorts?
Jaden Smith’s career has all but ground to a halt following M. Night Shyamalan’s, erm, awful sci-fi flick After Earth, and maybe the leading role in Static Shock is what Jaden needs in order to jump-start his flagging prospects? He does have some decent acting chops and looks absolutely right for the role.
What do you guys think? Do you believe Jaden Smith would be the ideal actor for the role of Virgil Ovid Hawkins/Static?
