One of the breakout characters of the first season of Stranger Things, the fate of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) was left up in the air during the finale when she seemingly sacrificed herself to save everyone from the Demogorgon.
Even show creators Matt and Ross Duffer didn’t deny or confirm what really happened to Eleven, and whether she would return for Season 2 when the show was officially renewed and new cast members were announced. Now we finally have some news.
TVLine reports inside sources have confirmed to them that Eleven will be back for the nine-episode second season, and that she’s expected to be a series regular. Slated to premiere sometime next year, the story will pick up in the fall of 1984, one year after the whole Will Byers (Noah Schnapp, who's been upped to series regular alongside Joe Keery in the role of Steve) vanishing thing and will dig into the “bigger mythology” of his disappearance.
Netflix has declined to comment, so until it’s officially confirmed, remember to take the news with a tiny grain of salt. But I’d bet my favorite Wolverine T-shirt that yes, Eleven will return next season. I mean, Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) leaving Eggo waffles in a secret cache near the entrance to the Upside Down was pretty much a dead giveaway that she’ll be back.
What do you think? Are you excited to see Millie Bobby Brown return as Eleven on Stranger Things?
