There’s a new rumor making the rounds about David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and it has something to do with the role that the Dark Knight himself will play in the upcoming DC comic-book movie.
Once again, the rumor comes from Latino-Review’s Umberto Gonzalez’s Instagram account, where he claims that sources have told him that Batman will be the “big boogeyman that the government REALLY hates.” Here it is:
“According to sources, in the film Batman is some sort of big boogeyman that the government REALLY hates. Get this, prior to the events in #BatmanvSuperman, THE JOKER is the only one to really ever meet him or know him and that's why he's so important to Amanda Waller. They have footage of Batman in action which they watch. There is a bit of dialogue where they say Batman is the key to tracking down all "the supers."”
Interesting to see that this is how Ben Affleck’s Batman will be viewed by the government before the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Dark Knight has always been a hero who thrived in the shadows, and it’s also intriguing to note that Jared Leto’s Joker will be the only one who has really "met" him, since another rumor is that the Clown Prince of Crime has actually murdered one of Batman’s sidekicks. Does that mean that Affleck’s Batman will have a cameo appearance in Suicide Squad? That remains to be seen.
Also of interest is the fact that Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) thinks Batman’s the key to tracking down “the supers,” aka the meta-humans, that will no doubt come to the forefront after the events of Batman v Superman. Comic Book claims that this is similar to the role she played in Justice League Unlimited, and that the storyline may be borrowing a lot from Mark Waid’s Tower of Babel story arc from JLA. The storyline was later adapted into the animated flick Justice League: Doom.
What do you guys think of this new rumor? Is this the best way to integrate Batman into David Ayer’s Suicide Squad?
