Ever since Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman shared pics of themselves on social media with Pierce Brosnan sandwiched in the middle, speculations about the former James Bond actor playing the X-Men's time-traveling mutant Nathan Summers (aka Cable) in Deadpool 2 have run rampant.
Here are Exhibits A and B:

Over the weekend, a source fanned the casting flames during a recent podcast of Meet the Press, where Simon Thompson (Forbes) revealed he had a bit of a chat with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch during the world premiere of John Wick: Chapter 2. Thompson congratulated Leitch on nabbing the Deadpool directing gig and tried to bait Leitch into revealing the name of the actor cast as Cable.
"So I said, 'Congratulations on casting Pierce Brosnan,'" Thompson explained, revealing that Leitch had answered "We have not yet." Okay, so far, so positive since the emphasis was apparently put on the word yet.
But wait! The whole thing gets even better when The Tracking Board's Jeff Sneider added "Justin [Kroll of Variety] can't say anything, but, yeah, I've heard it's going to him."
There you have it. Of course, this doesn't 100% mean that Pierce Brosnan has landed the part of Cable, so take this news with a grain, pinch and bucket of salt until we get an official announcement. In the meanwhile, jump in at the 20:37 mark for the start of the whole David Leitch/Cable/Deadpool 2 convo.
What say you? Do you think Pierce Brosnan is the right man for Cable?
