Thanks to a casting agency, we may have some insight into the storyline of Justice League Part 1.
Potential spoilers ahead!
We should say at the outset that casting agency notices are often very unreliable, but they're worth checking out for the occasions when they do in fact get it right, or even partially correct. Comic Book Movie obtained an unconfirmed synopsis for the first of Warner Bros./DC's two Justice League movies from one such agency, called My Entertainment World, and here's what it said:
The world's greatest heroes are assembled to form the Justice League, to combat a threat beyond each individual's capabilities. The story involves Darkseid planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that’ll move Apokolips into the Earth’s place.
Comic Book Movie points out that this basic premise was the foundation of a screenplay by Will Beall that was abandoned and deemed unusable. While Beall's handling of the story may not have been what the studio was after, certainly the idea of retaining Darkseid as the Big Bad makes sense, since he is possibly the only DC villain formidable enough to require the assembly of the League.
The current script is being written by Chris Terrio, who Ben Affleck also brought in to rewrite the screenplay for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's likely that the team will definitely include Batman (Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), the Flash (Ezra Miller), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), with the involvement of someone from the Green Lantern Corps yet to be determined.
Remember, take this all as a rumor, but if it's true, what do you think of Darkseid being the villain of the Justice League movies?
Justice League Part 1 is out on November 17, 2017.
