Marvel has made an art out of weaving new characters into its Cinematic Universe, and rumor has it Thor: The Dark World could introduce another beloved comic character to the big screen.
The Playlist tossed out the rumor in a recent podcast, saying Doctor Strange could play a big role in "all three acts" of the Thor sequel, potentially laying the groundwork for a future Doctor Strange film.
According to their report, Strange could work alongside Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) in the film, taking a particular interest in her Asgard-ian knowledge.
Though it's obviously just a rumor at this point, it could definitely work, and it follows the precedent set in previous Marvel films to introduce characters into existing properties so they're more familiar when they pop up again.
So who would play him? The scuttlebutt, per ScreenRant, is that Joel Edgerton (The Thing) or Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings) could bring Doctor Stephen Strange to life in Thor: The Dark World. Either pick would provide more than enough star power to carry a standalone film, and could be a good fit for the character's look as well.
What do you think? Do you want Doctor Strange in the Thor sequel?
