It's nearly impossible to keep every single spoiler away from avid fans, sly journalists, toy manufacturers and cross-promotional media outlets, so this rumor may have some teeth. At last week's Nuremberg Toy Fair, a Lego advertising slide show heralding upcoming Star Wars Saga tie-ins, one of which was for Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, accidentally revealed a small circular image of what definitely appears to be the notorious Slave One spaceship belonging to the crafty Mandalorian bounty hunter, Boba Fett.
Whether or not this is a direct indication of the fan favorite, last seen being digested inside a Sarlacc stomach on Tatooine, appearing in this new Star Wars standalone prequel is not certain. It does make sense though, since Fett would have been prowling the galaxy and getting into all kinds of mischief as a young, overly-ambitious mercenary as things heated up between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire. It's also a great way for Disney to deliver more screen time for rabid Boba Fett fans after his swift, ignoble end in 1983's Return of the Jedi.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story launches on December 16th, 2016, followed by Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017.
What do you think? Is this just a case of mistaken identity or would you welcome Boba Fett and his sleek Slave One starship to Rogue One?
