Christopher Nolan is known for keeping his scripts close to the vest. Nothing gets in and nothing gets out. But that doesn't stop rumors and possible spoilers from finding their way online. A major spoiler for The Dark Knight Rises regarding Batman and Bane has hit the net, and it's a big one ... so enter at your own risk.
If you don't want to be spoiled for The Dark Knight Rises or the Batman comic book, you know the drill. [Spoilers ahead] One of the most famous stories that the character Bane is known for is the infamous "Knightfall" arc.
"Knightfall" featured the back break that was heard (read) around the comic world, and we've learned that it might be revisited—on the big screen! According to a source close to the movie, Tom Hardy's Bane will put Christian Bale's Batman out of commission.
Not only will Bane break Batman's back, but he's rumored to do it during their first fight! If it happens early on in the movie, who's going to replace him while he's recuperating? In the comic book, Wayne chose Jean-Paul Valley to take over his crime-fighting duties, but we've heard no mention of him in the film.
If this plays out the way the source claims, would Batman's paralysis open the door for Selina Kyle's Catwoman to come out and play? Or will Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake be the one to fill his shoes? Are the names Jean and John just a coincidence?
With The Dark Knight Rises being the final installment in Nolan's trilogy, we're sure he wants to go out with a bang. What better way to do that to have Bane do what the other villains never could? Maybe this incident is what will make him take a break from his secret life, thus ending Nolan's series.
If this rumor's true, how do you think it will play out?
