Jor-El will kick some serious butt in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Superman's dad and Krypton's lead scientist will go head to head with General Zod in the reboot. Russell Crowe (who plays Jor-El) recently tweeted about an upcoming fight scene between himself and Zod's portrayer, Michael Shannon.
On Twitter, Crowe wrote, "15km bike ride, umpteen hours fighting Michael Shannon. He's very hard to put down." The actor was then asked who wins the fight and he answered, "Hard to tell who wins, we are still fighting tomorrow."
In Richard Donner's Superman, Jor-El merely gave Zod a stern talking to before he and his cronies (Ursa and Non) were sentenced to the Phantom Zone. Perhaps Snyder looked at that segment and thought, "This scene needs more action, with a side of slow motion."
We assume this battle will take place on their home planet prior to its destruction. Since Kryptonians only have powers on planets affected by the yellow sun (like Earth), how epic can the fight be? They won't have the ability to fly or throw each other through walls. Or will they?
The fight must be pretty substantial if Crowe and Shannon are filming it over the course of several days. Judging from Jor-El's new costume and Crowe's tweets, Superman's dad is getting a badass makeover.
Will you be excited to see Jor-El and General Zod go at it?
