If the Black Panther post-credit scenes weren't enough to stay glued to your chair, there will be another reason to stick around to witness the easter egg waiting for you with some surprising names.
Grammy and Emmy award-winning renaissance man Donald Glover and his brother Stephen are recognized in the end credits. Black Panther director and co-writer Ryan Coogler revealed to Collider why it was important that he mention the brothers.
"Donald and Stephen (Glover) actually gave me notes on a draft," Coogler said. The brothers took a day from their busy schedule to read Coogler's Black Panther script right before production started. "They had some cool insight. We were looking at ways to highlight a few more characters, specifically with Shuri where she pokes fun at her brother," Coogler said. "Donald is one of the funniest people I know, and Stephen is crazy talented."
Between writing, directing, and starring in his FX series Atlanta and reviving Star Wars legend Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Solo prequel, it's amazing to see how he has the energy to help where he can and maintain his prolific output. It's refreshing to hear that Coogler will maintain some brevity and humor in what looks like an action-packed, high-octane blockbuster that's setting the year off on the right foot.
Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, and Letitia Wright. The latest Marvel movie will hit theaters on February 16.
