Ryan Reynolds can probably be forgiven for being "late to the party" on Thor: Ragnarok. After all, he has been busy filming Deadpool 2, the sequel to his insanely popular 2016 film. But on the second day of the new year, Reynolds took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the popular superhero film, which hit theaters way back in November of 2017.
Reynolds, always charmingly irreverent, had this to say:
"Dislocated my face laughing." Now that is a compliment!
Thor: Ragnarok was released theatrically Nov. 3, 2017 and became the highest-grossing Thor film of the three in the franchise. Taika Waititi, who directed the movie and had a small supporting role (or three), is credited with bringing humor and lightness to the Thor universe, making it more in line with the rest of the MCU.
Deadpool, which featured Reynolds in the eponymous role, premiered in theaters in February 2016, and was the biggest February opening of all time. It was also one of the first -- and certainly the most successful -- R-rated superhero films.
Deadpool is a Fox production, while Thor comes from Disney. But both superheroes come from Marvel Comics. With Disney's recent purchase of Fox (pending government approval), is it possible that Reynolds is angling for a Thor/Deadpool mashup flick? Back in October, before the deal, Waititi was asked via Twitter which other superhero he'd most like to see in Ragnarok...
Can we get these two together, please? Sure, Deadpool doesn't really fit in with Thor's family-friendly vibe, but if Disney owns the rights to both, why not produce a picture with two of the funniest superheroes around battling bad guys and trading one liners? You'd watch that, right?
