If from the moment you watched Star Wars: A New Hope you imagined yourself mingling among the riff-raff of Chalmun's Cantina (a.k.a. the Mos Eisley Cantina), then do we have a destination for you.
The Scum & Villainy Cantina intergalactic pop-up activation located in the heart of Hollywood, California is a real bar inspired by that dank cinematic establishment where Luke Skywalker met Han Solo for the first time.
Running for two sold out months, the popular spot has extended its existence for one more month, until the end of June.
If you're interested, all attendees need to reserve timed entrance tickets on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening, which includes two drinks of your choice from the Cantina’s specialty menu, a souvenir pint glass featuring the pop-up logo, and an exclusive Scum & Villainy challenge coin.
We recently got the chance to check out the activation ourselves, and were treated to a room filled with a lot of high-end cosplayers, including members of the costume elite 501st Legion. A huge part of this bar's fun is to come in costume, traditionally dressed, or sporting a creative take on the expected rogues and rebels. Like on the night we arrived, we spied a dejected looking Greedo seated in a corner booth. There was a Han look-alike nearby, so maybe the nerf-herder shot first, or not. It's just as likely Greedo was simply having an existential kind of night.
The Cantina has also welcomed many celeb visitors, like Greg Grunberg, who plays Star Wars: The Force Awakens pilot, Snap Wexley. The nice thing about the space is that it's not a typical club with VIP areas roped off, separating attendees. Everyone is encouraged to hang out, move around the space, and grab a nook to eat and talk original trilogies, stand-alones, and the massive amount of collectibles you likely have waiting for you back home.
