We're still almost two weeks away from the premiere of American Horror Story: Coven, but you can now pass the time by watching the extra-eerie opening credits over and over.
The third incarnation of the hit FX horror series will premire on October 9, and just like last season, it'll feature familiar faces (including Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson) alongside new arrivals (including Kathy Bates and Patti LuPone). This time around, the series, subtitled Coven this season, will tell the story of a "secret history" of witchcraft in America, taking place in both the past and the present. Here's the official synopsis.
American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.
We have to wait until next month to see just how this story kicks off, but in the meantime series co-creator Ryan Murphy has seen fit to grace us with the show's new opening credits sequence, complete with menacing goats, voodoo dolls and hooded figures. Check out all the creepiness above, and get ready for a third season of terror.
American Horror Story: Coven premieres October 9 at 10/9C on FX.
