With the eagerly anticipated Torchwood: Miracle Day coming up in less than two months (can somebody put us in an induced coma to make the time go faster, please?), we're finally getting to see the series' first character promo pics. Captain Jack and the team are back!
But first, here's the series synopsis:
One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging -- they get hurt and sick -- but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.
With all the extra people, resources are finite. It's said that in four month's time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can't be a natural event - someone's got to be behind it. It's a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking "What is Torchwood?", he's drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.
It's definitely gonna be a tough job for former Doctor Who showrunner and Torchwood creator Russell T Davies to follow up the masterpiece that was Torchwood: Children of Earth two years ago.
But supported by a strong group of writers that includes Jane Espenson, a creative storyline (Nobody. On. The. Planet. Can. Die—and yes, we know Family Guy did this before. We say it doesn't count), as well as a rather controversial storyline (adding a child killer, played by Bill Pullman, to the mix is definitely a bold creative decision that may not sit well with a lot of people), we believe Torchwood: Miracle Day can pull it off.
The 10-part series will kick off on July 8, 2011, at 10 p.m. on Starz. Are you looking forward to it?
