As we reported here a few months ago, William Shatner will be releasing a new heavy metal album with the help of legendary god of metal Zakk Wylde. The album, Searching for Major Tom, will contain not only heavy metal songs, but covers of heavy metal songs all dealing with outer space, aliens and SF awesomeness in general.

Kirk himself belting out thunderous covers of Hawkwind's "Silver Machine" with Wayne Kramer from the MC5 on guitar, of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" with Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore on guitar and Alan Parsons on keyboards, of The Byrds' "Mr. Spaceman" with Dave Davies on guitar isn't enough to make your brain flatten in a singularity of "hell, yeah!", then check out the video below.
