Fans have been waiting a long time to see what’s next for Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, and now we finally know when Season 4 debuts — and we’re happy to report it's a whole lot sooner than anyone expected.
The studio has announced Sherlock will return Jan. 1 on PBS (in the U.S.) and BBC One (in Britain). All we knew until now was that Season 1 would not arrive until 2017. But hey, if we have to wait until next year, the first day of the year isn’t a bad consolation, right? The new season will consist of just three episodes, so make sure to savor them when they do arrive.
A new trailer has also been released, which focuses on the fallout of that Moriarty reveal from “The Abominable Bride,” though they still never truly make clear exactly what types of threats Holmes and Watson will be facing this time around. One thing is for sure, though — at least judging by the tone and footage — and that's that this certainly looks to be the darkest season yet of Sherlock.
