The first trailer for next summer's Green Lantern premieres this week, and a sample of the footage is already making its way around the Interwebs.
Entertainment Tonight will premiere the full trailer on Tuesday, but in the meantime the show provided a 30-second teaser for it on Friday. Yes, we wish the hosts would shut up too and just let us watch the thing, but the teaser does manage to provide some sort of taste of what's to come.
First we see Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan literally burst into his Green Lantern suit, then there's shots of him flying with his power ring held out in front of him, and some interaction between him and Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), but best of all, a couple of fleeting shots of the planet Oa and a very quick glimpse of one of the comic book's most beloved Lanterns, Kilowog!
There's also a few very Reynolds-esque quips and some random bursts of action, but it all moves so fast that it's hard to get a handle on everything that's happening. Also, Sinestro (Mark Strong) and Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) are nowhere to be found yet. At first glance, the comedic tone of some scenes and the obvious abundance of CG effects are a bit unsettling, but this is also a first trailer for a movie that doesn't come out until next June.
The trailer is likely to go online soon after it premieres on ET, but if you want to see it on the big screen, it will also be playing with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 when that behemoth opens this Friday.
What do you think of what we've seen so far?
