In its pursuit to become a purveyor of original content, the streaming powerhouse seems to be positioning itself as the savior of doomed genre TV. Even while it's in discussions to pick up Fox's Terra Nova, Netflix is zeroing in on ABC's Amazon-horror show as well.
The River talks are still preliminary, and are being framed as part of a larger conversation regarding ABC's content, but it's a sign of life for a show that, as of its series finale earlier this week, seems destined for demise.
It's also a sign that Netflix has the potential do to more than simply stream old TV shows. Between its attempts at saving series like Arrested Development and its new programming—like Eli Roth's Hemlock Grove and David Fincher's House of Cards—it seems like Netflix has an enormous amount of potential.
I wonder ... what other dead show would you like to see them resurrect?
