The cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi were feeling the fandom love as they took to the red carpet for the film's premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
In fact, according to actor Domnhall Gleeson, "about 2,000 people" turned out en masse to celebrate the release of the movie. And while speaking with SYFY WIRE on the red carpet, several of his fellow Star Wars cast members singled out the energy and excitement from the fans as well.
"Nothing really prepares you for this incredible onslaught of fandom and joy that we get another Star Wars film," said Gwendoline Christie. For Kelly Marie Tran, who had her own rollercoaster of happy emotions while making her way down the carpet, it's "overwhelming" to see fans cosplaying her character Rose Tico before even having seen the movie.
For veterans to the Star Wars franchise, the feeling never gets old. Anthony Daniels, who has reprised the role of C-3PO in every single film, still gets butterflies beforehand. "I'm always a little nervous before, but then you come here and you feel the love and affection and warmth and enthusiasm ... it just feeds your soul." Even Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, praised the fans' "unbridled passion."
Several of the cast members are in the middle of a whirlwind press tour -- Daisy Ridley gave us a rundown of all the cities that will be hosting them before the Christmas holiday -- but if you ask John Boyega what he's been up to, the answer sounds quite relaxing. "As for me, I've been in a hammock just enjoying myself. Sorry, guys, but it's The Last Jedi. Not The Last Stormtrooper."
He's not wrong. Watch our full red carpet interviews with Boyega, Ridley, Christie, Hamill, and more in the clip below, and continue to get hyped for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to premiere this Friday, Dec. 15.
