SPOILERY TERRITORY AHEAD!
Last December we delivered the scoop on the new sea creatures that Luke Skywalker exists with on the remote islands of the planet Ahch-To in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and now comes new info on exactly what one of these tentacled beings might look like.
Originally, news from Making Star Wars reported of small puffin-like flightless birds and a sea monster that Rey grapples with, and this strange Lovecraftian animal seems to be the larger of the two speculated about.
"Rey has a sequence on Ahch-To where she fights a rather large sea monster (we have also heard she wears a black cloak during this sequence over the costume we described before). It has been suggested but not confirmed that Rey’s besting of the sea monster grants her permission to be at the sacred location by the 'puffins.' However, the sequences could be totally unrelated."
Here's an artist's depiction and description of the rubbery-looking inhabitant of the rocky sea cliffs courtesy of Star Wars News 101:

To put its size in perspective, based on the two pieces, body and head, we estimate it to be around nine feet tall (around 3 meters), and rounded/wide enough to fit a couple of full sized crafty human puppeteers inside if needed! Now there is no way to determine whether or not the puppet will be size-scaled differently in post-production, but the puppet itself is that large. We can not confirm whether this new creature will have any kind of significant role, or just be a nice addition of environmental filler and depth. We all remember the giant pig-like happabore from The Force Awakens, a pretty large scale physical creation that appeared briefly to drink out of a trough and provide some quick comic relief by knocking Finn aside.
Check out this jumpy video from the Skellig Michael set below of some large alien in the distance and tell us if this might be a cool new protector creature for the island or if you think it looks a bit too much like Prickle from the old Gumby cartoons.
