The Demogorgon was positively terrifying in the first season of Stranger Things, but the Netflix series will be looking to go a whole lot bigger in Season 2. Get ready to meet the Shadow Monster.
Co-showrunner Ross Duffer told Variety the horror will be “more up-close and personal” in Season 2, whereas a lot of the scary stuff happened in the Upside Down last season. That won’t be the case when the show returns. It also sounds like the giant creature glimpsed in the initial trailer will be a major threat (duh), with co-star Noah Schnapp (Will) calling it “horrifying.” Fellow co-star told TV Guide the sky-monster was “crazy” for the cast to see, and praised the effects team for actually pulling it off. Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) said his reaction upon seeing the Shadow Monster was “Whooooooooa” (that’s a quote).
The creature looks to something straight out of nightmare fuel, and more than capable of menacing the entire town. So yeah, Stranger Things Season 2 is definitely going bigger and more terrifying.
Season 2 of Stranger Things premieres in October on Netflix.
