One of the big games on the NFL's Championship Sunday will feature an AFC clash between the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the winner to face off against the NFC champion in Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium in Houston. But before that victorious team gets the chance to kiss the gleaming Vince Lombardi trophy on Feb. 5, they must do battle at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., this Sunday.
In some epic pre-game hype, geeky sports editors at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette have given the Patriots-Steelers contest a Star Wars flair, casting the dynasty-seeking Patriots as the Evil Empire and the high-flying, working class Steelers taking on the role of the Rebel Alliance.
Check out the special AFC Championship Section featuring a football-shaped Death Star and the teams' official emblems shaped like the armored space station's killer laser weapon or the streaking Millennium Falcon. The Patriots have a reputation for unfair play with the notorious Spygate and Deflategate controversies and fit the bill perfectly as the indestructible enemy to take down when Sunday afternoon arrives on the gridiron.
