The first details for the long-awaited Supergirl/The Flash musical crossover have started to leak out, and now the two-parter officially has an airdate.
Deadline reports the event, now titled "Duet," will kick off at the end of Supergirl's episode on March 20 (much like the “Invasion!” crossover started in the final minutes of a Supergirl ep before jumping over to other shows) and from there will mostly take place during Flash’s episode on March 21. The episode will be directed by veteran TV (and Arrowverse) director Dermott Downs.
The performance list has also been confirmed, and much as Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s "Once More With Feeling" featured performances by pretty much all the core cast, "Duet" will follow suit. Viewers can expect tunes from Glee alums Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist, plus Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes, Jeremy Jordan, Legends of Tomorrow alum Victor Garber and Arrow/Legends alum John Barrowman. Supergirl co-stars David Harewood and Chris Wood will show up in non-singing roles.
Little else is known about the episode, aside from the fact that it will feature DC baddie the Music Meister as the villain. Neil Patrick Harris voiced the character on the animated Batman: The Brave and the Bold series, and fans are holding out hope he’ll return for live action, but no casting has been announced.
Downs’ appointment to direct also puts to bed any lingering rumors that geek god Joss Whedon could return to the small screen to helm the event. Le sigh.
Are you looking forward to seeing your favorite DC heroes belting tunes?
