Following last night’s dramatic Supergirl episode (which was helmed by Kevin Smith) the high-flying superhero series is going on hiatus for three kryptonite-fueled painful weeks.
When Kara (Melissa Benoist) and the rest of the gang finally return at the end of April with a new episode titled “Ace Reporter,” the show will introduce iZombie’s Rahul Kohli as Jack Spheer, “a charismatic tech genius who has spent decades working on a medical innovation that will eradicate major illnesses and change the face of the world – if it works” who also happens to be Lena Luthor’s (Katie McGrath) ex-boyfriend.
In the pages of the comics, Jack Spheer becomes a supervillain called Biomax who possessed mind-control powers after falling into a vat of a formula he developed, which was capable of controlling organic tissue. From the look of the trailer below, it does look like Kohli will indeed play a villain with a murderous streak – which is a departure from his role of kind, sweet, medical examiner Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti on iZombie. Also: Will Lena discover Kara's super secret? I mean, that last scene right there makes me think the cat will be out of the bag ... what do you think?
Supergirl returns Monday, April 24, at 8 p.m. on the CW.
