Supergirl's powers are being tested in first behind the scenes footage, plus set pics

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for CBS’s Supergirl, but now the series has finally entered production on the first season.

The pilot has been floating around for a while, but this gets into the meat of what Supergirl will be like week-to-week. The network has released an official behind the scenes clip, showing off key characters Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) at a desert location aimed to test out just how powerful Kara Zor-El could be. We also get to see Benoist be absolutely adorable. It's early days, but this looks like some spot-on casting.

It seems Kara will definitely be working with the secret government agency tasked with protecting the world from super-powered aliens, and the first order of business is testing her limits. It’s a logical step for the early days of the series, and we’ll be curious to see how the creative team differentiates from their stellar CW superhero shows already on the air. This is a fantastic oppurtunity to finally give us a female-led super-show. Here's hoping they knock it out of the park.
