SYFY's upcoming Superman prequel Krypton has cast its Adam Strange with the addition of Canadian actor Shaun Sipos (Dark Matter,The Vampire Diaries).
Set on the titular doomed planet decades before the birth of the legendary Man of Steel, Krypton will be executive-produced by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman vs Superman) via his Phantom Four production shingle. Sleepy Hollow's Damian Kindler is linked as the 2018 show's executive producer and showrunner.
Here's the official Krypton synopsis:
Based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Created by Julius Schwartz and Murphy Anderson, Adam Strange is a swashbuckling Golden Age hero who has been a staple of the DC Universe since his first appearance in Showcase #17 from 1958. Strange was involuntarily teleported to the planet Rann via an experimental beam, where he became a champion of his new world and a jetpack-wearing archaeologist and famed monster hunter under the mentorship of the planet's greatest scientist, Sardath.
Sipos’ Adam Strange is described as a "world-weary human, who finds himself stranded on Krypton as the unlikely mentor to Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather."
What do you think of Sipos as a the Star-Lord-ish, laser-pistol-packing Adam Strange, and are you excited for this Superman prequel streaking onto SYFY next year?
