Dark, gritty AND sexy? We know True Blood manages to pull off that trifecta week after week, but can those three words possibly describe a TV series based on that 1985 Michael J. Fox film Teen Wolf? Based on the promo trailer that was just released ... yes.
When we heard MTV was going ahead with a Teen Wolf series based on the Fox movie (and the sequel that featured Jason Bateman), our first thought was—really? But MTV promised that the series would depart from the comedic tone of the movies, and from what we've just seen in that very first promo trailer, we can say: mission accomplished.
Described by MTV as a "sexy thriller set against the drama of high school life with a forbidden, romantic love story at its core," Teen Wolf definitely veers away from the comedic roots of the two films, if we go by what we've seen in a pretty nifty trailer that boasts a sneek peak at a transformation scene, with glowing eyes, growing fingernails and sprouting teeth, ears, hair and all.

Teen Wolf is set to air on MTV next summer, with 12 one-hour episodes. It stars Tyler Posey (Maid in Manhattan, Brothers and Sisters), Dylan O'Brien, Crystal Reed (Skyline) and Tyler Hoechlin (Road to Perdition, 7th Heaven).
