Tessa Thompson drops Westworld clue as to who will rule next season

Let’s be real, there was only one person more formidable than a suddenly sentient host in the first season of Westworld, and that was the feisty Charlotte Hale.

The executive director of the board of Delos Destinations Inc. showed absolutely no fear to the likes of Robert Ford or the Man in Black, and now, I believe, actress Tessa Thompson may have just given us a little hint about what’s to come in Season 2.

Speaking to TV Guide at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, Thompson teased: "The one thing that I can say is that it feels like a season where women really rule, where women are king this year," she said before adding: "As if they weren't already."

Well, now, let’s think about that for a minute. It’s fair to say that Season 1 was still rather ruled by the reckless men of the park, with the narratives of Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) and Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) slowly bubbling under throughout, and never quite reaching that full-on revenge mode we were all hoping for. Perhaps, as Thompson is suggesting, Season 2 will fully realize the wrath of some of the long-suffering females. And producers have already promised us a bloodbath.

One thing is for sure, diehards are very interested to see how next season fleshes out Thompson’s character. It is, after all, noteworthy that at such a young age, Charlotte Hale is so high up in the company. Could she be related to someone in the park — say, the once-all-great-and-powerful Arnold Weber?

It’s a good bet that writers have something major planned for Hale. After all, she didn’t show up until Episode 6, and Thompson was cast way late in the game. Either way, you can be sure fans are stoked with her admission that next season women will rule.
