While Tessa Thompson has been hoping for a role in Mark Millar's new Kick-Ass film, she may need to put those plans on hold now that The Hollywood Reporter is revealing she'll be joining her Thor: Ragnarok co-star Chris Hemsworth in the Men in Black reboot by Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray.
The news also confirms the casting rumors about Hemsworth's participation in the film, which will feature him and Thompson as new agents in the same Men in Black universe seen in the hit Barry Sonnenfeld films. In essence, they're not replacing Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith's Agents Kay and J, but it sounds like the agency will remain the same. THR is also reporting that sources say the film will be more of an ensemble piece and more expansive as far as the universe it inhabits.
There's no doubt that both Thompson and Hemsworth have shown they have the comedic and action chops that will likely be required. Personally, we're hoping we get to see Tessa Thompson in the official MiB suit and tie.
Original producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are back for the reboot, as is executive producer Steven Spielberg. The expected release date is June 14, 2019.
