Our Sam Raimi-Bruce Campbell reunion has been cut short. The Evil Dead star was set to appear in Raimi's upcoming film Oz the Great and Powerful, but that's no longer the case. Campbell's scene has been cut from the film!
Bruce Campbell officially announced on Twitter than his appearance in Oz the Great and Powerful is a no-go. The actor wrote: "News: my scene in Oz has been cut before shooting. It happens on epic flicks. Disappointed, but all good w/Sam. On to the next adventure!"
To this announcement we say: Darn it all!
We would have loved to see Campbell mixing it up with James Franco in Oz. Couldn't you imagine him in a fantasy film of this magnitude? Campbell was born for movies like this! There's no word on why the actor's part was cut, but he's taking it like a pro.
Oz the Great and Powerful will serve as a prequel to the classic The Wizard of Oz. The story centers on a small-time circus magician with questionable ethics who lands in a mysterious and magical place. He encounters three witches, played by the talented Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams, who question his motives. As you might suspect, comedy and adventures ensue.
