The CW has released some cool behind-the-scenes video featurettes about its “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover event. It’s now been three days since the two-night extravaganza ended on a positive note despite all the insanity going on. The Nazis of Earth-X (including Nazi Green Arrow and Overgirl) have been defeated by our heroes, and all’s (almost) well with the world again.
The new featurettes take us behind the scenes of the filming of the epic four-part Arrowverse crossover, which includes superhero series Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Featuring interviews with cast and crew, viewers are getting a front-row seat as to how the fight rehearsals and fight scenes were done, which included some no-doubt-painful wire work. During the Flash installment (as our heroes try to return home to Earth-1), we’re told there were 18 people flying there, with only 12 of them on wires, which was probably the most people they had on wires for an episode of The Flash for a single exposition.
The Legends of Tomorrow segment is without doubt the saddest of them all, as it pays tribute to Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber), aka the other half of Firestorm, who heroically gave his life so that our heroes could return home. I have to admit I got a bit (okay, a lot) emotional as Stein and Jefferson (Franz Drameh) made their emotional farewells aboard the Waverider right before Stein dies. Nope. I’m not crying. You’re crying.
Next week, Supergirl, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow (don't forget this is when Matt Ryan returns as Constantine), and Arrow return for their midseason finales, so don’t forget to tune in to The CW during the shows’ regularly scheduled timeslots.
