The CW's superhero shows are coming back from their short hiatuses, and the network decided to tease them all in the best way possible: a "suiting up" montage. "We've been suiting up for 20 minutes," says an irked Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) to a snack-munching Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and a late-coming Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist), who both get dressed with lightning speed.
The teaser (below) is meant to signify the arrival of The CW's "Super Season," which is comprised of five shows set in the DC universe (aka the Arrowverse), one of which is new (the upcoming Black Lightning).
The Flash's fourth season comes back on January 16 with "The Trial of the Flash," Arrow Season 6 resumes two days later with "Divided," Supergirl flies back on January 15 in "Legion of Superheroes," and Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 arrives back on February 12 for "Daddy Darhkest." In addition, Black Lightning is set to make its feature debut the same day as The Flash midseason premiere.
Speaking of Barry Allen, a trailer was also released for "The Trial of the Flash" where the Scarlet Speedster finds himself between a rock and a hard place. In the previous episode, "Don't Run," Allen was framed for DeVoe's murder. What the authorities don't know is that DeVoe transferred his mind out of his original body. Nevertheless, it seems the only way for Barry to be exonerated is to potentially reveal his secret identity. "If everyone knew my secret, we would never be able to stop running," he says.
It's a poetically tragic line of dialogue for the fastest man on Earth.
