If you’re already finding the wait for season 3 of SYFY’s The Magicians unbearable, be prepared for that frustration to multiply. Nerdist is reporting today that genre favorite Felicia Day (Supernatural, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return, Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, The Guild, many more) will be joining the cast in a pivotal role.
She will play Poppy, who in the original Lev Grossman books is a dragon expert. She helps the team during a time of dire need, which is something that happens a great deal in both the books and the show.
In a statement to Nerdist, Felicia Day said, “I am thrilled to join The Magicians this season. The show is one of my favorites, the cast is incredible to work with, and showrunner, Sera Gamble, is one of my Hollywood heroes. I can’t wait for fans to meet Poppy!”
As the second season finale left our heroes and professors in quite the magical mess, having a powerful dragon expert (who is also well versed in all things Fillory) on their side can only be a good thing...or so you'd think. With this show, things are rarely what they seem. What we can be certain of is that this casting adds another strong female character to the already wonderful ranks of Alice, Julia, Kady, and Queen Margo the Destroyer. Here's hoping that she has plenty of little cakes on hand.
