Universal Pictures has unveiled the first action-packed clip from The Mummy and two glorious IMAX posters.
The scene is an extension of the ambulance chase sequence first glimpsed in the trailers, where Tom Cruise’s character, Nick Morton, is trying to escape the malevolent clutches of Sofia Boutella’s (Star Trek Beyond) titular mummy: Princess Ahmanet. Along for the bumpy ride is Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle).
Helmed by Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek) from a script penned by Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange), The Mummy will be the first entry in Universal’s ambitious shared monster universe, now dubbed the Dark Universe. Next on the roster? Bride of Frankenstein, to be directed by Bill Condon (Beauty and the Beast) for a Feb. 14, 2019, release date.
Also starring Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (Terminator Genisys) and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll, The Mummy will open on June 9. Check out the clip below, and let us know what you think!
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
