Acclaimed actress Shohreh Aghdashloo is venturing back into the Marvel universe, to bravely go up against The Punisher.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Aghdashloo will play the mother of Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah), a Homeland Security agent named Farah who takes issue with Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) in the Netflix series.
The Daredevil spin-off focuses on Frank’s journey to becoming the titular crime-fighting vigilante after he is tormented by the murder of his family. Aghdashloo’s character, Farah, will have her work cut out for her once she ends up squaring off against him and his no-holds-barred approach to justice.
This isn't Agdashloo's first stint in the Marvel universe, though: She previously played geneticist Dr. Kavita Rao in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand.
In The Punisher, the actress joins a rich cast of genre players, including Westworld’s Ben Barnes and True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll, as well as Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze, and Jaime Ray Newman.
Iranian-born Aghdashloo — who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 2003’s House of Sand and Fog — was most recently seen playing Chrisjen Avasarala on SYFY's The Expanse. She also played Commodore Paris in 2016's Star Trek Beyond.
The Punisher is scheduled to start streaming later this year.
