The Suicide Squad is back in action this spring on Digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. In their first DC Universe Animated Original Movie Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay, Task Force X is sent out by Amanda Waller in pursuit of Vandal Savage, and they've assembled one hell of a team.

In the DC Universe, Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad, is a team of criminals sent out to fight other criminals. They're kept in line by explosive charges in their heads; basically, if they blow town, the explosives blow, too. Amanda Waller holds the detonator, and what she says goes.

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay is the 31st of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, and is based on The New 52 continuity within the DC Animated Movie Universe. Basically, while it's part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, it only shares continuity with the DC Animated Movie Universe. So it's connected to Justice League Dark and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, but not Batman: Gotham By Gaslightwhich is part of the Elseworlds continuity.

The new trailer above, which debuted today on IGN, promises lots of action and more than one twist as Waller sends the crew out on a dangerous mission with the promise of shaving one year off their sentence. That is, if they survive the mission.

Send the Suicide Squad out to steal a mystical object of great power that Vandal Savage wants? No problem! Not for this team.
