It's been three years since the beloved vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, and those spinoffs promised by creators Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and Jemaine Clement (Legion) are finally starting to see the light of day.

In addition to a sequel to the film following the werewolves (not swear wolves) through their adventures and daily lives, the film is getting not one, but two television spinoffs. One of those already has an order on FX, and will follow a new group of supernatural characters in America. The other will return us to the film's original setting of Wellington, New Zealand, and it's arriving on that country's TV screens next month.

Titled Wellington Paranormal, the new series will follow Officers Minogue (Mike Minogue) and O'Leary (Karen O'Leary) — the two somewhat clueless cops hypnotized by Waititi's character Viago in the film — as they investigate various supernatural happenings around the city under the command of Sgt. Maaka (Maaka Pohatu). As the teaser below reveals, the officers will be facing much more than vampires and werewolves this time, as they encounter everything from crop circles to demonic possessions to zombies while working their beat. They also seem to have an issue with fences, but that's not necessarily a paranormal issue.

Like the film, the teaser for Wellington Paranormal takes a workaday approach to supernatural happenings. Sure, it's a bit weird, but it's also just life for these characters, and it's that tone that helped make the original film so beloved in the first place. Of course, Minogue and O'Leary aren't as experienced with these things as Viago and his crew, so they might be at least a little more freaked out. We'll have to wait and see.

That might be the tricky part, though, because Wellington Paranormal does not yet have a U.S. distributor. If you live in New Zealand or you've got access to the TVNZ network, you can start watching it July 11. If you don't, it may be a bit of a wait. Still, it's nice to see the long-promised What We Do in the Shadows expanded universe is finally arriving.
