Lord of the Rings fans (and I'm putting this mildly) got together last month to re-create an epic battle between the combined forces of men and elves against those of Mordor ... and it sure looks like it was a Tolkien experience to end all Tolkien experiences.
The thrilling event took place in the village of Radíkov in the Czech Republic, where those LOTR superfans got together to (fake) beat the crap out of each other with fake weapons. The event, called Bitva o Fort, can be translated as Battle of the Fort in English. There’s a ton of pics on the official larpin.org site, but there's a great sample of pics from photographer Daniela Bogarová, who was on hand for the glorious action, in the gallery below.
The LARP (live-action role-playing game) epic battle saw both sides fighting over two wooden forts. I’ve to admit it looks like it was a ton of fun, and I take my proverbial helmet off to those LARPers. I'm sure the "Eye of Sauron" sitting atop Barad-dûr in Peter Jackson's trilogy was more than impressed by the assembled crowd of costumed performers. Check it out below, and let us know what you think!
