This is why Johnny Depp shouldn’t be on your Star Wars trivia team

The Force is not so strong with this one actor named Johnny Depp. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Daisy Ridley has exposed the Edward Scissorhands star as someone who you probably wouldn’t want on your team if you were, say, entering a Star Wars trivia contest.

The pair worked together on the latest reboot of the Agatha Christie classic Murder on the Orient Express, and it quickly became apparent to Ridley that Depp isn’t that well versed in the Star Wars galaxy of movies.

“I didn’t work with Johnny so much, but when I did, it was brilliant,” she told EW. “Although, it was hilarious, because he said to me, ‘Daisy, I am going to see Star Wars, because I hear Peter Cushing’s in it.’ [Laughs] I was like, ‘He’s not in my one, but that’s okay.’”

Cushing – who died in 1994 – was digitally resurrected for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as Grand Moff Tarkin, a role he previously played in 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope.

As we all know, Ridley and her character Rey do not make an appearance in the movie we presume Depp was thinking of. She’s in that other one. Oh, you know, the one with Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher! What’s that one called again?

Of course, it may have been just a simple mixup for Depp, and it should be noted that when Murder on the Orient Express was in production, Rogue One was still in cinemas. But still, it’s safe to say he’s not quite the expert when it comes to the much-loved movie franchise.
