Thor: Ragnarok: 10 biggest and best moments in SDCC trailer

Contributed by

The Thor: Ragnarok trailer and poster released at San Diego Comic-Con are nothing short of awesome, in the truest sense of the word. They truly inspire awe with their over-the-top colorful visuals, their mix of humor and action, of confident strutting and terrible bumbling.

Yeah, this movie is going to be fun.

Here's that trailer again if you need a refresher:

In fact, I was originally going to write about the five biggest and best moments in this trailer. Then I watched it, and all five were Hulk moments. So in honor of Hulk being so awesome here, and everyone else also deserving their moments in the spotlight, here are five incredible Hulk moments and five other great moments in the Thor: Ragnarok Comic-Con trailer.

Hulk Enter Arena

We saw Hulk entering the arena on Sakaar in the first trailer, but it wasn't quite this elaborate. Look, as a fan of the Planet Hulk comic storyline from 2006, I'm pretty freaking amazed to see Gladiator Hulk there on the screen, looking fantastic.

Hulk Fight Fenris Wolf

This movie could probably be subtitled Hulk vs. Asgard, because it looks like he's going to fight a lot of major players in the Thor/Norse mythos. Based on Fenrir of mythology, Fenris is the son of Loki and plays a key role in the Ragnarok myth ... but here, he's a giant demi-god wolf fighting the Hulk, and that's all you really need to know.

Hulk Join Team

Hulk is fun as a loner, but having seen him in action alongside the Avengers, we know how great it is when he's working with a team. This is a motley crew, but it's a great line-up, and we really hope Hulk gets some banter with Valkyrie and Loki - last thing he said to the latter was "Puny god," after all. You know Loki didn't forget that.

Hulk Talk Trash

I think I could watch Hulk and Thor talk trash to each other for twice as much time as I watch them fight. Their fights are fun, sure, but this is Hulk's first-ever real banter and it's just so perfect.

Hulk Fight Surtur

Teased in concept art at last year's Comic-Con, getting to see a tiny glimpse of Hulk diving at Surtur, the fire demon lord of Muspelheim, really tells us how wild and crazy this movie is willing to go.

Okay, onto the non-Hulk moments!

Flight of the Valkyries

Probably could've done a Valkyrie subsection of this list, too, but the two shots of Valkyrie and her co-horts in flight, going after Hela, are just stunning. It looks like concept art come to life; literally couldn't imagine it better.

Thor, you lying.

Again, the Thor and Hulk -- or in this case Thor and Banner -- banter is just so great. A buddy adventure movie with these two must've been the easiest sell ever. Now no one will want to see one without the other any more, though. Thor lying to Banner about their fight is just perfect.

KORG!

Korg! The stone-man member of Hulk's Warbound from the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk stories is here, and from what we heard of the additional footage, it sounds like he'll be a really good addition to the flick.

Hela crazy Rainbow Bridge fight

Every second Hela is on screen in this trailer is a gift, but her flying after Loki and Thor on the Rainbow Bridge portal and knocking Loki into the time/space stream with an easy flick of her sword is just ridiculous.

What're you the god of again?

Has there ever been a moment where Thor has been cooler than the last "main" shot of this trailer? What are you the god of? Thunder and lightning, dagnabit. Thor looks powerful, menacing and, yeah, we'll say it: mighty. Can't wait to see what's next.
