For a few weeks now we've been following the clues and waiting for official confirmation that Thor: The Dark World would see the God of Thunder facing off against the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. Now it seems we were right ... and it also seems the Dark Elves will be led by a Doctor.
According to Deadline, Thor's next big nemesis will indeed be the leader of the Dark Elves, Malekith the Accursed, and he'll be played by the Ninth Doctor himself, Christopher Eccleston.
Things have been headed into Dark Elf territory for a while now, ever since we heard from a stuntman that he'd been asked to act like an evil elf by the flick's director. That was followed by the news that director Alan Taylor would be leading his crew through underground shoots in the tunnels beneath London. And then of course, there's the subtitle, The Dark World. It seemed impossible that we wouldn't have Dark Elves, and it would definitely be impossible to have Dark Elves without Malekith, who's been a vital Thor nemesis since 1984.
We're definitely excited to see Eccleston in this role. He's a sci-fi icon despite only playing the Doctor for a single year, and he definitely looks fit to be an evil elf.
What do you think? Good casting?
