We've known for a while that Tom Hiddleston would reprise his role as Loki for The Avengers, but we haven't known what exactly he'll be doing. Well ... we still don't, but thanks to the man himself we do know that Loki will face off one-on-one with each of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
In a new interview with Total Film, Hiddleston—who first took on the role of the scheming Norse trickster god earlier this year in Thor—says he gets to face each member of the superhero team individually, until they learn they have to work together to beat him.
"The fun thing about Loki is that he goes 1-on-1 with every single Avenger."
"Loki has become so menacing that they all have to team up and overcome their differences to stop him."
This jibes with what we know so far about the rivalries between members of the team, so it makes sense that Loki would be devious enough to try to divide and conquer. As for who among the Avengers is the toughest to fight, Hiddleston says it takes a god to beat a god.
"It's been the most incredible privilege to work with my own heroes. The greatest superheroes in the world played by some of the greatest actors in the world."
"I think I can dismiss the mere mortals, so Captain America may be a super soldier but he's still a man and he's up against Loki, who's a God. I think Iron Man's blasters hurt a bit ... But I think it comes down to his thunderous brother. No one is harder to fight than his brother because there's all that angst within him. Thor still comes out on top."
Was that a spoiler or just an attempt at cleverness? At any rate, we still don't know Loki's role. For now, though, we know we could be in for a lot of fight scenes.
