For some, Tom Welling will always be their Superman. The actor played the role of Clark Kent for 10 seasons on The CW’s Smallville, a series that followed Clark’s journey to become the Man of Steel. Recently, the actor has hinted that he’d be open to return on one of the network's Arrow-verse series.

The show may have gone off the air in 2011, but a contingent of fans were still clamoring for him to reprise his iconic role when Supergirl was looking to cast its own version of the Man of Steel. Many hoped Welling would suit up as Superman, but the role went to Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin. Thankfully, Hoechlin positively knocked it out of the park.

Speaking to Nuke The Fridge’s Luis Lecca during a shindig for Fox’s Fall TV lineup (the actor will appear on Lucifer this season), Tom Welling revealed he was open to appear on one of the Arrow-verse's TV shows, but it’s not the one you think. Here's what he said:

“I am willing to go on The Flash and I have a few ideas on how it can happen if the network asks me. In fact, I think I can make it happen.”

The introduction of the Multiverse on the Arrow-verse would certainly make the appearance of Tom Welling’s Clark Kent/Supes possible. Hey, it stands to reason the Smallville-verse is out in the multiverse somewhere, right? Then again, The CW also has a tendency to cast actors with ties to former superhero shows and movies in new roles.

For example, former Smallville star Erica Durance will now appear as Kara’s mom, Alura Zor-El. Former Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman actors Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher both had/have roles on Supergirl, while Supergirl movie actress Helen Slater plays Kara’s Earth mom, Eliza Danvers. Mark Hamill reprised the role of the Trickster from his Flash (1990-1991) days while John Wesley Shipp went on to play both Henry Allen and Jay Garrick on The Flash.

What do you think of Tom Welling's desire to appear on The Flash? Do you have any ideas as to how it could happen?
