Today in "That's not a reboot I saw coming" news, Deadline is reporting that McG, Marc Guggenheim & James Cameron are rebooting True Lies as a television series for Fox. McG will direct the pilot, which is being written by Guggenheim, and both will executive-produce along with James Cameron, Jon Landau, Rae Sanchini, and Mary Viola.

There are a number of reasons this could work. 20th Century Fox and James Cameron are generally a good luck charm; McG directed the Lethal Weapon pilot and that went to series; Guggenheim is definitely good at what he does and he's good at keeping things interesting. The big question will be how you set up Harry Tasker's job and home life. Will we get a case-a-week sort of thing? What does the cast look like?

While we're at it, what movie would you like to see rebooted into a TV series, and what do you think about True Lies getting a TV facelift?
