TV THIS WEEK: Blast off with Star Trek: Discovery, get lost in the No-End House and The Good Place

Fans have waited more than a decade, but Star Trek is finally returning to the small screen this week. Well, for one episode at least — then it jumps over to a streaming service. But hey, we'll take it.

Along with the series premiere of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS (a marketing push to entice viewers to sing up for CBS All Access to see the rest of the series), we also have the debut of SYFY's positively freaky Channel Zero: No-End House, which looks like the perfect show to get us good and wigged out ahead of Halloween.

Looking to season premieres, The Good Place and Gotham are both back this week. The Good Place is one of the best fantasy comedy shows of the past several years (seriously, catch up on Season 1 on Netflix before the premiere!), while Gotham promises to start turning young Bruce Wayne into a full-fledged vigilante. This week also brings us the season finales of Midnight, Texas; Zoo; and Salvation, plus the series finale of Teen Wolf.

If none of that gets you excited, just tune into SYFY for some genre comfort food in the form of an all-out Battlestar Galactica marathon.

Put simply: It's a big week. Fluff your couch cushions and change out the batteries on the remote. There's a lot to see.
