TV THIS WEEK: Midnight, Texas premieres, People of Earth returns, and more

One of the quirkiest comedies of last seasons beams back onto the schedule this week, along with the premiere of a show trying really hard to fill the True Blood hole in the schedule.

TNT's alien abduction sitcom People of Earth returns for Season 2, while NBC's Midnight, Texas premieres with a town full of sexy monsters and creatures. There's also a new installment of BBC America's Orphan Black (with the final season quickly winding to a close), and a new Preacher, which is looking more and more like the comics that inspired it. There's also a whole slate of new Syfy stuff, with Wynonna Earp, Killjoys, Dark Matter and Blood Drive all dropping new episodes.

Highlights

Midnight, Texas (NBC), Monday 10 p.m. - “Pilot”

SERIES PREMIERE: In the series premiere, locals from a Texas town try to fight off supernatural beings, violent biker gangs, suspicious cops and more.

People of Earth (TBS), Monday 10:30 p.m. - “New Beginnings”

SEASON PREMIERE: Ozzie tries to get the group back together in the Season 2 opener. Also: A disgraced FBI agent arrives to investigate white-collar crook Jonathan Walsh; a merger takes place on the ship; and Don and Kelly go to visit his "dying mother" in Iceland.

Killjoys (Syfy), Friday 8 p.m. - “Attack the Rack”

The Killjoy rebels take drastic measures to clean house: a secret ops attack against their own Rack.

Teen Wolf (MTV), Sunday 8 p.m. - "Said the Spider to the Fly"

MIDSEASON PREMIERE: As Scott readies Beacon Hills for his imminent departure, a mysterious presence breaks out of Eichen House.

Game of Thrones (HBO), Sunday 9 p.m. - "The Queen's Justice"

Daenerys holds court; Cersei returns a gift; Jaime learns from his mistakes.

 

Monday

Shadowhunters (Freeform), Monday 8 p.m. - “A Dark Reflection”

Jace and Clary are on the hunt to recover the Mortal Mirror before it could fall into enemy hands, but Clary realizes that Jonathan may be closer than she thought. Meanwhile, Isabelle has a hard time accepting that her little brother, Max, is growing up; and Maia struggles to bring her guard down with Simon.

Preacher (AMC), Monday 9 p.m. - “Sokosha”

When the Saint finally corners the trio, Jesse makes a risky deal with the killer Cowboy. Jesse races against the clock to save Tulip and Cassidy.

Stitchers (Freeform), Monday 9 p.m. - “Just the Two of Us”

When Kirsten wakes up to find that everyone in the stitch lab is missing except Cameron, the two search everywhere but only find a series of mysterious clues; and Kirsten is forced to confront her own emotions about her relationship with Cameron.

Tuesday

Zombieland (Syfy), Tuesday 7 p.m.

A cowardly shut-in teams up with a seasoned zombie slayer and two resilient young girls to battle the legions of the undead.

Gravity (WGN), Tuesday 8 p.m.

Two astronauts find themselves stranded in space after a disastrous accident destroys their shuttle and wipes out the rest of their crew. Now, tethered to each other miles above Earth, they must work together in order to survive.

Face Off (Syfy), Tuesday 9 p.m. - “Possessed Possessions”

The artists must create looks for the owners of the possessed objects. Cheyenne Jackson guest-judges.

 

Wednesday

Salvation (CBS), Wednesday 9 p.m. - “Truth or Darius”

Darius must accelerate his plan to stop the asteroid before the Pentagon shuts him down. Meanwhile, Grace is forced to make some difficult decisions that could have life-or-death consequences for millions of people; and Liam and Jillian reunite under surprising circumstances.

Blood Drive (Syfy), Wednesday 10 p.m. - “The Gentleman's Agreement”

Slink unleashes a demon from the belly of Heart Enterprises to exact his revenge and take control.

 

Thursday

The Mist (Spike), Thursday 10 p.m. - “The Devil You Know”

At the hospital, Kevin becomes an involuntary test subject on what drives the Mist. Also: After Nathalie discusses her theories about The Black Spring, she has a violent encounter with Link.

Zoo (CBS), Thursday 10 p.m. - “Drop It Like It's Hot”

Jamie manipulates Mitch and Logan into helping her hunt shepherds, members of a secretive group responsible for sterilizing humans.


Friday

Killjoys (Syfy), Friday 8 p.m. - “Attack the Rack”

Ancient Aliens (History), Friday 9 p.m. - “The Animal Agenda”

Non-humanoid theories that extraterrestrials may have resembled animals are explored by examining Sanskrit, Sumerian and Egyptian texts.

Dark Matter (Syfy), Friday 9 p.m. - “Isn't That a Paradox?”

When the Blink Drive self-activates during a diagnostic, the Raza and its crew are transported through space and time.

Wynonna Earp (Syfy), Friday 10 p.m. - “No Future in the Past”

Wynonna has an opportunity to discover the origins of the Earp curse, while her team works to save the future.


Saturday

Ghost Adventures (Travel), Saturday 9 p.m. - “Extra Pulses: Haunted Harvey House”

In an enhanced episode, the crew become the first team to investigate the Castaneda Hotel in New Mexico. They later gain access to another haunted hotel, the Plaza Hotel, where an aggressive spirit is said to be targeting women.

Orphan Black (BBC America), Saturday 10 p.m. - “Guillotines Decide”

Mrs. S orders the sisters to take a night off from sleuthing to celebrate Felix's art opening. But while Felix attempts to impress a famous gallerist with the help of his sestras, Sarah remains on edge with a nagging suspicion that S is hiding something.

 

Sunday
