TV THIS WEEK: Sharknado 5, Rob Lowe hunts for ghosts, new Orphan Black and more

Summer is a time when TV gets a bit eclectic, and this is one of those weeks. Want Rob Lowe hunting ghosts? A B-movie sequel about shark-based weather? We have all that, and more.

SYFY's unstoppable Sharknado franchise returns this week for a new installment, which looks to spoof your grand conspiracy, wacky thriller genre a la National Treasure. It looks like a silly romp, and considering we're on the fifth entry in this series, you already know if you'll be watching, right? We also have the premiere of A&E’s The Lowe Files, which is basically a TV show framed around Rob Lowe and his sons out hunting ghosts ... which is admittedly random, but also weirdly enticing.

There's also a new episode of AMC's comic-based critical hit Preacher, a new Game of Thrones on HBO, new sci-fi stuff on Freeform with Shadowhunters and Stitchers, and a bevy of new SYFY episodes, led by Killjoys and Blood Drive.

Highlights

Preacher (AMC), Monday 9PM - "Pig"

Tulip confronts her near-death experience; Denis asks Cassidy for a major favor; and Jesse questions the price he paid to save Tulip and Cassidy.

The Lowe Files (A&E), Wednesday 10PM - "Haunted Boy's Reformatory"

In the series premiere, Rob Lowe and his sons visit the Preston Castle, a condemned former boys' reformatory in California that is said to house angry, vengeful spirits. They try to draw out the spirit of a murder victim whose residual energy remains at the castle.

Killjoys (SYFY), Friday 8PM - "Necropolis Now"

As Johnny faces off with someone from his past, Dutch faces her own personal hell.

Orphan Black (BBC America), Saturday 10PM - "One Fettered Slave"

A devastating loss is eclipsed when word reaches Sarah that Helena has been kidnapped. Later: Clone Club band together in a race against time, determined to find her before she has her babies.

Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (SYFY), Sunday 8PM

The origin of the Sharknado is revealed in the latest installment of the schlocky, shark-filled B-movie franchise.

Monday

Shadowhunters (Freeform), Monday 8PM - "Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen"

After a devastating attack at the Institute, everyone is on high alert as the team close in on their hunt for Jonathan. Meanwhile, Simon and Maia help a new Downworlder as the Seelie Queen demands an answer from Magnus and Luke.

Preacher (AMC), Monday 9PM - "Pig"

Stitchers (Freeform), Monday 9PM - "Dreamland"

The team investigate the murder of an ex-Air Force officer, and the trail leads to a former co-worker and renowned UFO expert. The memories in the stitch have the team wondering if UFOs and extraterrestrial beings really exist.

Midnight, Texas (NBC), Monday 10PM - "Bad Moon Rising"

A deadly predator breaks loose on the night of the full moon. Also, Manfred tries to help his neighbors and grows closer to Creek, a resident witch attempts to rid Manfred's home of spirits, and Rev tries to stay out of trouble.

People of Earth (TBS), Monday 10:30PM - "Uneasy Alliance"

Agent Foster meets with StarCrossed in her continued investigation of Walsh. Meanwhile, Yvonne leads a small team to search for Gerry, unaware that he's been abducted. On the ship, Jeff seeks advice from Gerry on how to deal with his new boss.

Tuesday

Real Steel (FX), Tuesday 8PM

Retired pugilist Charlie (Hugh Jackman) becomes a two-bit fight promoter after human boxers are replaced by robotic combatants and the sport is changed forever. Later, Charlie teams up with his estranged son Max to assemble and train a robotic champion.

Face Off (SYFY), Tuesday 9PM - "Feral Fungi"

The six remaining artists create victims of a fungal virus that turns people into zombies.

Wednesday

Salvation (CBS), Wednesday 9PM - "The Human Strain"

Darius must reveal one of his most closely guarded secrets to prove to Harris and Grace that he's not a traitor. Meanwhile, Liam helps Jillian adjust to her new job at Tanz.

Blood Drive (SYFY), Wednesday 10PM - "A Fistful of Blood"

Arthur helps a wasteland sheriff free his town, but the line between good and evil is not easily drawn.

Salvation (CBS), Wednesday 10PM - "Keeping the Faith"

Darius is forced to reckon with his past when he tries to uncover who killed his friend Lazlo. Meanwhile, Liam discovers who's been selling secrets to the Russians.

Thursday

Blade II (TNT), Thursday 8PM

The vampire slayer teams up with the undead to take down a band of mutant bloodsuckers in this sequel. Blade and his team join up with his arch-nemesis to defeat a race of super-vampires called Reapers, who hunt vampires and humans indiscriminately.

The Addams Family (Freeform), Thursday 8:50PM

A stranger shows up on the Addams' doorstep, claiming to be a long-lost uncle. However, he is really a ringer in cahoots with a lawyer, and the two are trying to dupe the ghoulish family out of their fortune.

The Mist (Spike), Thursday 10PM - "Over the River and Through the Woods"

The gang find unlikely sanctuary in the psych wing of the hospital; tensions at the mall escalate about the remaining food rations; and Nathalie and Romanov have a final confrontation.

Zoo (CBS), Thursday 10PM - "Oz Is Oz"

Mitch seeks to rescue Clementine from her captors, and Abigail's past reveals the origins of the hybrids.

Friday

Josh Gates travels to the kingdom of Bhutan in search of the elusive yeti. He and his team tackle unspoiled wilderness, battle rapids, crawl through narrow caves, and cross ancient bridges to reveal the truth behind the abominable snowman.

Wynonna Earp (Syfy), Friday 10PM - "Forever Mine Nevermind"

Wynonna asks Doc to make an impossible choice. Waverly makes a new friend and is terrorized by an old one.

UFO Files: Revisited (History), Friday 10:03PM - "Field Phenomena"

Crop circles, cattle mutilations, and other physical traces are examined.

The Dead Files (Travel), Saturday 10PM - "While the Children Sleep - Olympia, Washington"

A frightened mother calls on Steve DiSchiavi and Amy Allan to investigate claims of malicious paranormal activity directed at her children and elderly mother in Olympia, Washington. While Steve's investigation reveals a deadly explosion that killed nearly a dozen people, Amy encounters a hateful murder victim hell-bent on ending the existence of anyone in her path.
