Contributed by

We might still be in the dog days, but there’s still plenty of shows to check out this week as the summer season starts to wind to a close. You know, assuming you're done binge-watching Marvel's The Defenders, of course.

The Amazon Prime original series The Tick makes its Season 1 premiere on the streaming service, giving the cult favorite figure a new lease on life. We also have a new-look Marvel's Spider-Man animated series at Disney XD (featuring Miles Morales in a supporting role!), which drops a new episode as its debut season gets off the starting line. At SYFY, we have the premiere of the new series Face Off: Game Face, plus the season finales of Wynonna Earp and Dark Matter (along with a new episode of Killjoys).

Oh, and of course the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. But you already knew that one.

Digging a bit deeper, we have new episodes of Preacher and The Mist, plus some excellent movies worth checking out. The entire film trilogy of The Hobbit airs on cable this week, plus the original Stephen King's It miniseries on SYFY to get you ready for the big screen retelling. If you're looking for explode-y schlock, Battleship is on this week, so look no more.

Check out our full rundown for the week below, and let us know what you’ll be watching:
