RETURNING: Sleepy Hollow: Monday, September 22 (Fox)

This series was a surprise, breakout hit last season and, after the epic season one finale, we can’t wait to see where they’re going next. The debut season snuck up on a lot of people with its supernatural alt-history and fish-out-of-water fun, but this could be one of the biggest premieres of the season.

Frequency (The CW), Wednesday, 9 p.m. - "Negative Copy"

Raimy and Frank end up in the thick of things. Meanwhile, Frank learns the meaning behind a betrayal.

NEW: Forever: Monday, September 22 (ABC)

This new series stars Ioan Gruffudd, aka Mr. Fantastic from the previous two Fantastic Four films, as an immortal medical examiner who solves crimes. It looks to straddle the line between straight-up procedural and some genre overtones. Also of note: The series will premiere on this date, but it’ll relocate to its regular timeslot the next day on Tuesday, September 23.

Vikings (History), Wednesday, 9 p.m. - "The Great Army"

A great Viking army assembles at Kattegat while Lagertha remains vigilant in the absence of Bjorn.

RETURNING: The Big Bang Theory: Monday, September 22 (CBS)

Though there have been some contract snafus in recent weeks, all that is resolved (with most of the cast scoring a cool $1 million each per episode now) and the series should be on track to return for its eighth season this fall. Yes, we know it's not explicitly sci-fi, but they do frequently have Star Wars and other genre crossovers, so we tossed it on the list.

Salem (WGN America), Wednesday, 9 p.m. - "Friday’s Knights"

Mortal enemies come together in order to keep all hell from literally breaking loose.

Salem 3x08 Promo "Friday's Knights" (HD)

RETURNING: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Tuesday, September 23 (ABC)

Though the ratings weren’t fantastic by the time season one wrapped up, Marvel’s flagship television series finally did find its footing from a storytelling perspective. We’re expecting big things from year two, and we can’t wait to see how they followup that awesome season finale.

Incorporated (Syfy), Wednesday, 10 p.m. - "Executables"

Ben races against time to finish the Everclear device and help out SPIGA in the questioning of an enemy agent. Meanwhile, Laura bargains to save a girl's sight and Theo finds his skills being tested by a well-trained opponent.

Incorporated 1x07 Promo "Executables" (HD)

RETURNING: Person of Interest: Tuesday, September 23 (CBS)

Though it's become more of a mainstream hit than a genre hit, Person of Interest has grown into one of the most compelling sci-fi shows on television. It’s dark, smart, and techy. If you’re not watching, this would be a great point to jump on.

Thursday

The Good Place (NBC), Thursday, 9:30 p.m. - "What's My Motivation"

Eleanor hatches a plan with Tahani while Michael makes a stunning discovery. Additionally, Chidi learns intriguing news and confides in Eleanor.

The Good Place - Janet and Jason Get Married! (Episode Highlight)

Friday

RETURNING: Grimm: Friday, October 24 (NBC)

This is a relatively quiet little series, but it continues to hold its own on NBC's schedule and will be back again this fall. Though it started out feeling like a Supernatural clone with a fairytale slant, the series has spent the past season or two expanding its mythos into one of the most compelling on television.

MacGyver (CBS), Friday, 8 p.m. - "Large Blade"

Mac is in a helicopter crash with Jack in a remote area of Kazakhstan and needs to use a large blade and a water bottle to save their pilot and prevent an escaped war criminal from taking them as prisoners.

MacGyver 1x13 Promo "Large Blade" (HD) Season 1 Episode 13 Promo

NEW: Constantine: Friday, October 24 (NBC)

This is easily one of the most anticipated new shows of the fall. NBC is taking a big swing at the DC canon with this one, and we can’t wait to see the iconic dark artist John Constantine brought to life on a weekly basis. The pilot is good, if not great, but seems to be the perfect setup for one heck of a great show. Fingers crosse this one is good enough to break out.

The Vampire Diaries (The CW), Friday, 8 p.m. - "We Have History Together"

Stefan and Damon attend an anger management support group looking for their next victim. Meanwhile, Sybil uses a group of high school students as leverage to get Caroline to locate a historical artifact that can be used against her and Stefan and Damon continue their commitment to Cade and test the morals of a young doctor.

RETURNING: Elementary: Thursday, October 30 (CBS)

Though CBS’s modern-day Sherlock Holmes series sometimes gets lost in the shuffle behind the acclaimed Sherlock from the BBC, it's a solid little procedural with a Holmes-y slant. It’s put a unique twist on the canon, and the third season should be a fun one.

Emerald City (NBC), Friday, 9 p.m. - "Mistress"

The Wizard sends guards to kill Dorothy. Meanwhile, the witches' power intensifies as the Wizard loses control and Tip and Jack seek a cure in the City of Ev.
